Social Media Strategist

Full-Time (2026)
Location: Texas
Reports to: Executive Director

About the Role

Powered by People is hiring an energetic, creative, and resourceful Social Media Manager to shape and expand our digital presence across Texas. This is an early-career opportunity for a mobile-first storyteller who loves being in the thick of the action. The ideal candidate will travel across the state, capturing the raw, authentic energy of our movement and translating on-the-ground teamwork into compelling digital narratives that inspire people to get involved.

Our digital strategy relies on a no-frills homespun approach that reflects honest, grassroots organizing. Your goal isn’t to create overly corporate, polished advertisements—it’s to capture “the real deal,” human moments that showcase our grassroots work and define the PxP brand. The Social Media Strategist will build a vibrant brand identity, grow an engaged audience, and help our field teams aggressively recruit passionate volunteers to build power up and down the ballot in Texas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audience Alignment & Channel Growth: Strategically bridge the momentum of our larger, established digital ecosystems to organically grow independent, high-engagement PxP social platforms (predominantly Instagram and TikTok)
  • High-Intent Content Production: Script, shoot, and edit social native videos (Reels, TikTok, Shorts) and static content (images, carousels) designed with clear, localized actions that turn digital viewers into active community volunteers
  • Statewide Content Curation: Serve as the centralized digital hub for the state—gathering, organizing, and elevating raw field footage and content submissions sent in by staff and volunteers stationed across different Texas regions
  • On-Ground Storytelling: Conduct casual, authentic on-camera interviews with voters, volunteers, and community leaders at events to showcase the real energy and diverse faces of the movement
  • Production Workflow Management: Maintain a collaborative digital content calendar aligned with upcoming field events, team tours, and organizational milestones

Qualifications

  • Commitment to Powered by People’s mission and values, and passion for building grassroots power in Texas
  • Experience producing engaging short-form social native video content and static content (whether for a brand, a campus organization, an internship, or a personal brand portfolio)
  • Comfort with modern mobile creation tools, mobile-first video editing apps, and digital accessibility practices (like accurate captioning)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across remote and in-person settings
  • Access to a laptop, smartphone, and reliable transportation
  • Readiness to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to capture campus tours and dynamic community events
  • Bilingual applicants (English & Spanish) are highly preferred and strongly encouraged to apply

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-time position
  • Healthcare eligibility after a waiting period
  • Opportunities for training, mentorship, and creative growth within the organization

To Apply:  Please send your resume (no self-photos, please), a short cover letter, and a link to a portfolio or examples of social content you have produced to info@poweredxpeople.org with the subject line: “Social Media Strategist Application – [Your Name] – [Your City/Region]”
